Ultimate Summer Playlist 2014

Pic taken by myself on my recent holiday to Florida
There are so many aspects of summer that require the perfect soundtrack - whether you are heading to a festival, unwinding on a tropical beach, or chilling at a BBQ. With this mixture of big summer anthems, laid-back tunes and fun party songs hopefully you will have a song for every memory made in this beautiful season.

Brighter Days- Saint Raymond https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiySRYaKxLk

          - Saint Raymond is an up-and-coming band which has recently been featured on Radio One and on the soundtrack for E4's 'Made In Chelsea'. This track from their EP 'Ghosts' is really chill with reggae sounds in the chorus making it a really good song for the beach.

Party At The Beach House - Hoodie Allen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7dtf

        - Hoodie Allen is a great rapper for people that 'don't do rappers'. His pop combination with hip hop is a lighter way to listen to rap music than your typical Kanye West/Jay Z. With lyrics that may remind you of your own summer, this is a great song for driving around with the windows down. rUw8d8

Mug Shot - MAX https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kid4GuZsae4

      - Mug Shot by Max Schneider caused quite a buzz on social media the day it came out with artists praising this debut single. The thing that is really great about this track is the old school sounds during the verses with harmonies reminiscent of the motown era, contrasting to the chorus that has a modern and dramatic feel, making it different to other music in the charts and effectively creates a memorable first single.

       - New music from The Cab is something I have been eagerly anticipating for a long time and their new EP certainly did not disappoint. 'Stand Up' is a fab, upbeat motivational track and once you listen once you will be hooked.
Be Who You Are - You Me At Six https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEqnlLl1kSg
        - 'Short and sweet' is the best way to describe this little gem from 'Cavalier Youth'. This is the type of the song for those chilly summer nights by a bonfire under the stars, and a refreshing break from the heavy guitar riffs and rock sounds of the rest of the album.
         - This house song is an awesome summer party song that is an example of the upcoming talent amongst younger artists, especially in the dance genre, in the UK.

        - A slightly older tune but my excitement to see Don Broco at Reading Festival this August inspired me to include it in this playlist. A cheeky song by a cheeky band of lads, the guitar crunch and unique vocals will definitely appeal to fans of You Me At Six and All Time Low.
Let The Groove Get In - Justin Timberlake https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHsrWuYomiI
        - The funky, salsa sounds in this piece by JT gives it a very exotic mood, perfect for summer. It is hugely repetitive but that makes it very catchy and just makes you want to do a bit of Zumba dancing!

        - Lovesick has an energetic melody and youthful lyrics with a laid-back vibe which I am looking forward to experiencing at Reading Festival. Fans of The Cure will love this one as well as Radio One listeners.
